My house is entirely infested with bats. There are probably thousands! I'm a large home ownder and the bats are very happy living in the attic under our barrel tile roof top and inside some parts of our home. For three years I have had a love/hate relationship with them. They eat mosquitoes but make awful noise and disgusting mess! I tried putting mesh up to keep them out but they are very determined! As much as I like watching them fly at night I am very concerned with how much damage they are causing. Our gutters and and entryways are full of guano and I am worried about where they are leaving droppings inside. The smell of the bat feces is awful in the summer. I think maybe the excrement is eating at the flashing in my roof. Sometimes I find dead bats and droppings on top of my swimming pool area screen. I don't want to exterminate them, but I want them out of my house and in much smaller numbers! I'm not sure how much your services cost, but this home has become a true money pit. What are your rates/how soon can you do an inspection to give me a quote? I desperately need your assistance!
My Response: That is a very challenging climate. Barrel tile roofs incorporate thousands of gaps, and they ought to all be sealed so that the bats cannot enter and get away. Ventilation concerns are also
restricted, which is why a combination of coming up and caulking is the most widespread way to seal the interruptions. Some companies even put up polynet over the entire place. Tell me your location, and often I can
come and give you an actual estimate, or another professional in your neighborhood, that I recommend, can consult you about an live inspection and job pitch.
We have a log vacation home in the mountainous area of NC. It's about 25 miles away from Asheville. We are ironically located near a area called Bat Cave... There are Bats up under all of our trim, near our bedrooms and between where the 50 percent logs of our external partitions meet the roof on the log home. We live in a remote area by a lake so we are the solely "bat condo" for several miles or so. Do Bats Attack Humans? My wife and I bring our grandchildren here during the summer and we want them to be safe. Can you recommend someone in the Asheville area to visit our household to help us? We have urine stains on the upper exterior walls, windows, and plenty of bat poop around the exterior. Please please drop a line!!
My Response:
Sure, I can suggest a great company in Asheville! That situation doesn't appear terribly complex, unless any of the logs are deteriorating, or if there are many gaps or complicated architecture as part of the home.
HELP!!!!!! I think we have bats in our attic. I see them flying around the roof every night. I think that is when they feed? I notice we don't have as many insect pests as we used to. Do they eat mosquitoes? I went in my attic and I found small droppings that look like they could be Bat Poop. There is an intense odor near the droppings and I am worried about the attic insualtion being damaged. What should I do?
My Response:
Don't panic. There are far worse infestations to have in your home besides bats. That being said, you should take this seriously to ensure yours and your family's health. You need to hire a company that will perform a live exclusion, sanitize the areas where they nested, and repair/seal any openings where the bats were entering your home to ensure that they don't come back. I can recommend a great service company in your area.
I've been chasing a bat around my house for weeks and just finally thought to Google Bat in House and I found your Web site. I think you will be able to help me. I have only seen the one bat since I opened my attic the other day and it flew out and almost knocked me down the ladder. But the attic smells rancid and sometimes I hear noises. But they could be coming from animals on top of the roof right? I hope there aren't more! Please contact me with your rates!
My Response:
Sadly, if you have one bat, you probably have at least a small colony. Bats love attics and they usually feed at night. If you are hearing noises at sunset and before sunrise that is most likely them entering and leaving your home. If you have children, make sure that they don't go into the attic and come into contact with the bat feces because bat guano and the bugs that root around in it can carry diseases.
